Vickie User Interface installation page
for
Windows
98/NT/XP
Vickie User Interface (V.U.I) is the user entry point in the Vickie environment. It allows the user,to access to the services using an unified dual display interface. Vickie is based on mozilla so it is a fully-featured World Wide Web (WWW) client And it's the best client for the files of the vickie project.
To install it, you have to follow the next steps :
Step 1 : If you don't have Mozilla Firebird, you have to install it
Mozilla Firebird is a web browser that is used by VUI. You can find some informations about Firebird in the Mozilla site.- Download Mozilla Firebird somewhere on your computer (for example in "my Documents" folder) by clicking on one of this link :
- Install it by
doubleclicking mozillaFirebird.exe and click on "next" button at
each
windows :
- For the last window click
on the "Finish" button
- Click on the "Mozilla Firebird" icon on your desktop and come back here with your new browser.
Step 2 : Install Java plugins for Mozilla Firebird :
- If you can't hear a bird in this page, you have to download and install Java on your system.
- To install Java, go to this page http://java.sun.com/getjava/manual.html and follow the instruction.
- Restart your computer, And come back for the next step.
Step 3: Select modules and answer to this questions :
| 1 VUI module | The VUI
module is the
user entry
point in the
Vickie environnement.
It's the main module of the software, so you need it. You can :

| 2 Libbraille module | This
modules is the braille
terminal driver. If you want to use a
braille terminal with the VUI, you have to select it. For more
informations and to know what put in the next fields, look on the
libbraille page here.

Math
translator module |
Select it, if
you want a math
output in braille math or in Latex. you
can find information about the translator here. output format : This module install also Java Runtime Environment. You can find information about it here. |

Step 4 : Click on the link to install your Vickie
Step 5 : Enjoy yourself by closing this browser and clicking on your vickie icon in your desktop or in your start menu.
